JAMB fixes cut off marks for universities, polytechnics, colleges of education

The minimum cut off marks for admissions into universities in Nigeria was set for 120, polytechnics and colleges of education pegged at 100, while that of innovative enterprising institutes was pegged at 110. Institutions are, however, at liberty to raise their cut off marks for admission above the minimum set by JAMB. Also, admissions into public degree awarding institutions for the 2017 UTME examination will end on January 15, 2018 while for private institutions, it ends on January 31, 2018. Also, decisions on first choice candidates by universities will end on October 15, and second choice candidates will end on December 15

Trump attends Nigeria’s oil roadshow

Mr. Donald Trump, the President-elect of the United States will attend a roadshow being   Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Mr. Ibe Kachikwu, said on Tuesday in Abuja when he unveiled the goals of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources for 2017. “We are going to be seeking to attract investments and complete all the MoUs we have in China and India. Trump “We are looking to do a roadshow to the UK, we are looking to do a road show to the US with President Donald Trump coming in,’’ he said. The Minister said Nigeria would exploit the relationship built by President Muhammadu Buhari in taking a road show to the UK and US. Kachikwu equally pledged the readiness of the Federal Government to pass the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) and allocate oil blocks in 2017.

FG extends 2016 budget implementation to March 2017

The Federal Government has extended the execution of the N1.58tn capital component of the 2016 budget to the end of March 2017. The development was confirmed by the Accountant-General of the Federation, Alhaji Ahmed Idris, via a circular with reference number OAGF/CAD/026/V.111/108. The circular, which was obtained by our correspondent on Friday in Abuja, was addressed to top government officials such as the Chief of Staff to the President, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, ministers, National Security Adviser, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and all service chiefs. Others are the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, all permanent secretaries (federal), Clerk of the National Assembly, Auditor General of the Federation, all vice chancellors of federal universities, all directors of finance and internal audit and all directors-general.
